When we break motivation down to its most fundamental level, it's either inspiration-oriented or desperation-oriented. Whatever action we take, we are moving either toward something we favor or away from something we disfavor.

The majority of the world uses desperation as a motivator. Desperation is like a cattle prod forcing you to move forward and take action. You can motivate anyone on your team with desperation. The problem is that motivation spurred by desperation does not last. When desperation is the motivator, sales reps are in an "away from" mentality.

This kind of motivation is fleeting, arising only when threat, fear or discomfort is present. If you want motivation to last, you need to rely on inspiration. When your team is motivated by inspiration, they're moving of their own initiative because they want to and are excited to, rather than because they are being forced to. Motivation becomes long term when it taps into a person's inner recesses.

While the inspiration approach is certainly the more appealing of the two motivational methods, sometimes there has to be an element of "desperation." I don't mean that you want to cause your team members to feel despair, but sometimes things that push us away have to be present just as much as things that draw us near. The main reason for this recommendation is that if inspiration isn't quite enough, your prospects may just simply fall into inactivity. That is, they fall into a comfort zone.

I've developed a grid that maps out the different motivators, their varying degrees and the effects they have on others. Draw a horizontal and an intersecting vertical axis on your paper. On the left of the horizontal axis, write "Desperation." On the right of the horizontal axis, write "Inspiration." At the top of the vertical axis, write "Internal" and at the bottom of the vertical axis, write "External." In the Internal Inspiration quadrant, write the letter "A." In the External Inspiration quadrant, write the letter "B." In the Internal Desperation quadrant, write the letter "C." In your last quadrant, External Desperation, write the letter "D."

The central region is the comfort zone, where we experience complacency. How do you get someone on your team to move outside the middle? Let's start with the short-term, easy form of motivation, quadrant D, where we find external desperation. You apply an external pressure to force someone into action. In other words, your team members must do what you say or they're fired. "Hit these numbers or pack your bags." Sure, it will work temporarily, but long-term consequences will result.

The next area of the Motivation Equation is quadrant C, where we find internal desperation. Desperation motivation can be made internal if you can use your prospects' sense of duty or obligation to get them to move. Internal motivation works something like this: "I'm getting paid, so I guess I have to do this. If I don't do this, the team will miss its quota." You can see that in both of these examples, the person is acting of her/his own initiative but only out of obligation or to avoid a worse consequence.

So, is there a place for either of these latter two motivational approaches? Yes, but use them sparingly. Most teams will not put up with this treatment unless they know it is tough love. Every once in a while, when other things have failed, you can use these types of motivation. You have to let your team know not only that there are positive consequences for their actions, but if they don't perform, there may be negative consequences as well. There has to be a baseline or a standard from which to evaluate the situation. Your team members can't think that no matter what they will always have a job. Let's face it-sometimes we all need a kick in the pants. When we do resort to this approach, it's usually a negative circumstance based on desperation. Just don't go overboard or take it to the extreme. Make sure before you use any negative reinforcement that your sales rep has the tools s/he needs to get the job done. Does s/he need more training? Does s/he know exactly what you expect and how to do it?

The next quadrant is quadrant B, where we find external inspiration. Here, it is still external factors that influence you, but this time in a positive way. You are inspired and energized rather than acting simply to avoid pain. External inspiration is getting on the right motivational track because it can grow into internal inspiration. Sometimes, this quadrant is referred to as "borrowed light." It's OK to be guided and inspired by borrowed light until you've lit your own flame. At least this kind of motivation keeps you progressing in a positive way. Even with external influences, this type of motivation can produce long-term effects because it is inspiring and thus begins to tap into your inner emotions.

The best type of motivation is internal motivation, as shown in quadrant A. This quadrant is what we call passion. There's no stopping the person who has found inspiration that is purely internally driven. You can wind her/him up and s/he'll go on forever.

Hopefully, this chapter has given you lots of ideas on how to help individual team members as well as your team as a whole feel more motivated. As I said earlier, this material will apply to certain people in certain situations and will help them learn to find the right tools. The point is, you possess the knowledge and are equipped to take on any situation. Review this chapter anytime you need to give your team a boost, or even just to keep current momentum going. Of course, any of these suggestions may be adapted to suit your team's specific needs.

Questions

1. Why is the mindset of your sales force the foundation of your success?

2. What are three ways in which you can praise and recognize your team? How will you implement these strategies?

3. Gallup Consulting Group has spent more than two decades interviewing hundreds of thousands of salespeople in an effort to help corporate clients form and develop their sales teams. Its findings suggest that the top four qualities of top-tier producers are: 1) solid closing skills; 2) self-motivation; 3) strong work ethic and 4) excellent people and relationship skills. How can you implement these four qualities into your sales team?

Motivation Equation And Orientation

The Importance of Strategic Thinking in Effective Leadership

Among the requisites of an effective leader is his capacity to understand the things around him and to formulate options for situations that demand such action. These traits only become apparent when strategic thinking is utilized in the decision-making process.

This kind of thinking management dictates the direction of organizations because thinking strategically makes sensible use of labor and financial resources for optimum results, or seize opportunities before these are evident. Hence, before any action is executed, relevant factors are cautiously evaluated.

The thinking method answers the questions what, who, when, where, and how and involves people and resources towards a goal within a timeframe. Hence, it is easy to measure or quantify success. After all, the ultimate goal of leadership is to bring the organization into professional growth and development.

Leadership Styles on Different Organizational Goals

Leadership is defined in a number of ways. One description pictures leadership as the ability to get things done by the right people who are willing to do it and without feeling the pressure of doing the job. Making the people feel that way is yet another hurdle for managers.

The Center for Management an Organization Effectiveness (CMOE) and other training providers understand the need to train potential leaders into effectively handling global challenges. Organizations now have the focus to groom their potential leaders into men with vision like Peter Drucker, Bill Gates, Tome Peters, Andrew Grove, Jack Welsh, and Warren Buffett.

Providing customized training modules is the main endeavor of the CMOE. This is because potential leaders are unique, and treating them all alike is denying them with the opportunity to show their flexibility and creativity in leadership roles.

Although some leaders don’t have the charisma to influence people, they are very good at producing extraordinary results. They can cut through the fluff or simplify things to get things done fast and in an excellent manner.

According to many, the greatest leaders are those who can foster leadership within his own team. When people under his supervision are capable of exercising their self-leadership, their self-confidence becomes a strong point in their growth towards leadership.

Leadership in organizations looks at effectiveness in management and response to change. On top of this, leadership should be geared towards protecting the interests of the organization and its people. Leadership today, however, goes beyond the organization and looks at the organization from the viewpoint of the community.

Customizing Leadership Training Programs

CMOE has acknowledged that different leadership styles result to different training needs. Therefore, the CMOE considers it of primary importance to closely work with their clients in order to come up with customized modules for managers, emerging leaders, experienced leaders, executives, line supervisors and employees.

An effective training program utilizes real-life situations, eliminates immaterial topics and direct these towards the achievement of the organization’s objectives.

Different training approaches are also utilized in designing modules for employee development, team development, leader development and organizational effectiveness. Custom solutions for leadership development center on the company's goals and objectives and the diversity in human responses to situations and stress in the workplace.

In seeking for training programs on human and leadership development, organizations must first see the balance between the potentials of established leaders and the value of teamwork within the company.

Strategic Thinking and Effective Leadership

The rules that a successful business operate by today are very different from the rules of 20 to 30 years ago. The widespread use of technology has dramatically cut response times and elevated customer expectations of service. Competitive advantage is the catch cry, but most business owners struggle to articulate what their point of difference is. The statistics are well known: a staggering 40% of all new businesses fail within the first 12 months. Within 5 years, more than 80% will have failed.  And yet, people are flocking to start up new businesses in ever increasing numbers.

What is it then, that sets apart the successful businesses from the unsuccessful ones? Here are my top ten tips for creating and maintaining a successful business. As you read, think to yourself – how does my business stack up?

1. Successful businesses have repeatable, scalable systems

The processes in the business are clear, usually documented and followed religiously by all. This ensures the customer gets the same experience, every time they deal with the company.

2. They don’t depend on one person

If all the knowledge and skill resides in one person’s hands or head, then the business is in serious trouble when that person wants to take a holiday, has to go to hospital, breaks an arm or leg etc.

3. Successful businesses can articulate what makes them different from others in their field

Businesses that can do this run the risk of competing on price alone, a war that nobody wins (except the customer)

4.  They always add value to the customer’s experience

The customer perceives that value has been added either through service, product features, distribution etc. The customer’s perception is what’s important – find out what’s of value to them

5. Use strategies that recognize and reward their employees

Reward and incentive programs should be based on performance, not just years of service or other demographic criteria. Employees are human; they respond to recognition - both  financial and non-financial

6. Most successful businesses have a powerful vision

They dream and think big, then they share it with their employees to create a uniting purpose

7. Planning – short term, long term, medium term

There’s no escaping it – working out where you want to go and planning to get there, will set you apart from the great majority of businesses that don’t perform this activity well. Doing a plan at business start-up stage and never looking at it again doesn’t really count as planning either. Plans should be reviewed at least twice per year, and done properly, can be your most
powerful business tool

8. Product innovation – re-create or die

The world moves on, people’s needs change, and so must your products or services. If you don’t offer it, no doubt your competitors will. Take time out to develop one or two new offers – road test them with your customers.

9. Surround themselves with the right support

Successful business owners know what their skills are. They also know exactly what skills they don’t have (and probably will never have). They employ or rent the expertise they don’t have – after all, it’s impossible to be an expert at everything

10. Have an exit strategy

Most people don’t plan to be in their business until they reach the end of their lives, but
most people fail to plan how they will exit their business. Successful business owners know this before they start, and this drives the actions and decisions they make during the life of their business.

10 Critical Elements of a Successful Business

Ok this one is supposed to be simple. Everyone wants success to some degree. Now success isn't the same for everybody; for some it's money, for others it's attaining an attractive spouse, and for some it's just plain happiness in one form or the other (sorry if I left your category out). In any case, it's tried and true that some people just seem to have their chips in all the right baskets and know all the right people while some people just plain don't.

I want to do a simple comparison between a successful thinker and a failure-type thinker. Both deal with the same obstacles and both, believe it or not, go through the same internal struggles on a daily basis. The successful thinker has the same insecurities as the failure, but it's in the way he processes those thoughts and portrays them in his daily interactions that sets him apart.

Let's face it: everyone FAILS. Everybody fails period. I fail, you fail, your rich uncle failed, and Thomas Edison failed (thousands of times). Take a look at how your failures have affected you. I can look back at some disappointments in my life and pinpoint the ones I was hurt by and pinpoint the ones that grew me into the happy and goal-oriented person that I am today. Enough about me, here's the comparison:

The failure fails; he lets the failure control his action and mindset and lets that failure destroy him. He will never attempt that same feat again; ever in his life.

The successful guy fails; many more times than the failure. He gets up; he fails again. He tries again, modifies his process, sees the project through from start to finish, and fails AGAIN. He starts over, learns some new tricks, surveys his customers, finds out their wants and likes, finds out their needs and dislikes, puts it all together and...FAILS AGAIN. He gets up. He tries and tries and tries. Finally, after all of those unsuccessful and disappointing attempts, he makes a dollar. He makes someone smile. His product works. He tweaks and tweaks and tweaks until he GETS IT. Happy ending? Maybe. But he has SUCCEEDED. He is now driven to do more and affect more people and continues until he is a household name.

Are you starting to see the difference? Everybody fails; the successful people usually fail the most. But they turn those failures into learning experiences and use them to put it into overdrive and head towards success.

Think of this analogy (I did NOT come up with this one): the best baseball players hit .400 or .300 AT BEST. That's only 3 hits out of 10! 30%! That means they FAILED 7 times! Yet, they are the best because they have succeeded at a higher rate than the unsuccessful hitters. Crazy, huh? It is easy to let failures get you down, but the difference between successful and unsuccessful people is how they use the outcome of the failure to drive the next step of their life. Simple? Yes. Easy? No. Do your best to let your failures drive you one step closer to your success! Cheers!

How to be Successful - Failure Vs Success

or many years that's what people called me.  It was not a title I wore proudly.

I worked my way from entry level programmer to senior management in a large telecom company.  I knew a lot of people, and I had a great sense for how to work within the "system".  I understood how it could overwhelm you, and I got good at knowing when to ignore it and when to play along.

In the jobs I had, the most important contribution I could make over the long haul was to develop the skills of the middle managers reporting to me.  The more effective I could make them, the easier and more successful my life would be.  It was frustrating to me when I would coach people and they would respond with comments like "I could pull this off if I had your political skills".

I was insulted.  I didn't play politics!

Of course I did.  I just didn't want to admit it.  When you're running for office, political skills are an important attribute.  When you are the guy running a business office, politician is a label that diminishes your true leadership abilities.

If anyone accused me of being an expert at office politics, I denied it forcefully.  I worked hard to get where I was, and no one was going to take that away from me.

Then I Changed Jobs

Same industry, bigger title, more people, new city.  I was not well connected, of course.  But I recognized the challenges of the job and I was ready to go to work on them.  Costs were out of control and results were inconsistent.  I had to fix both.  It was made clear to me that I was being brought in from outside because the inside culture needed a shakeup.  I couldn't wait to jump in.

Was I successful?  Without a doubt, I accomplished more in two years in this new job than in any five year period of my career.  We downsized, actually improved morale while we were doing it, and got our operational metrics up where they needed to be.  My clients were internal, and they were effusive in their praise.  Personally, I was rewarded with a good raise and a really good bonus.

Six months later I experienced a career first -- I was fired.  Well, alright, I was let go with a very respectable severance package.  But I didn't see it coming, and it didn't feel very good.  What happened?

When I took the new job, lots of people whispered in my ear about the politics in my new company.  It wasn't very complicated either.  There were old guard insiders and when outside executives were brought in the old guard eventually rejected them the way the body rejects tissue in a transplant operation.

I wouldn't get caught up in that.  I had a job to do and I was going to do it.  No political posturing for me.  I was in full denial.

So I worked very hard and got some of the greatest results of my career.  While I was doing that, there was a change at the top. The new CEO was a former executive of the company who had left and now was coming back.  He was a hero of the old guard.

I wasn't thrilled with the board's choice, but I wasn't worried.  My hard work and accomplishments would stand up to scrutiny, no matter who was in charge, right?  Wrong.

Learn the Right Lesson Here!

The obvious lesson might be that politics are real and you'd better play the game well if you're going to succeed, no matter where you go.  But that's not it.

Yes, office politics are real, no denying that.  As a leader, it's important that you gain an understanding of the political landscape in which you are working.  Not so you can play the game -- so you can avoid getting caught up in it.

Think about the successful leaders you know, the ones who rise to the top.  The vast majority of those I know didn't get to where they are today by crushing their in house competition in the game of office politics.  They got there by crushing their external competitors and serving their clients better than anyone else.

Along the way, they were politically aware, but not politically active.  They built relationships with everyone they could.  While others around them came and went, they thrived because of those relationships and because of their relentless focus on the end game.

Live in denial and the smarter politicians in your office will be deciding your fate for you.  You won't even know it.

Get good at office politics and you'll score some wins; a promotion or two, a few awards here and there.  For most, though, the game eventually catches up with them and their political nature becomes career limiting.

Understand office politics well enough to avoid getting caught up in the wrong debates.  Focus on clients, growth and other key goals.  Build relationships with everyone you meet.  Know the game, and then refuse to play.  That's how the best rise to the top.

Leadership Tips -- Office Politics

Decisions are very important factors that determine the growth of organizations. Decisiveness is a quality which distinguishes very good managers from very bad managers. A person who is not good in decision making is not fit to be called a manager but an administrator. Corporate investment decisions often involve substantial amounts of money. Many investment decisions are also difficult to reverse and can affect the company's business far into the future. (“Corporate Finance,” 2009). There are different theories on managerial decision making. One of such which effectively summarizes this is Vroom and Yetton’s normative model of decision making. According to Vroom and Yetton (1973), each decision is influenced by two major factors: decision quality, and acceptance. But in most cases, managerial decision making usually involves three major stages, each of which are enumerated below:
Firstly, the manager needs to define the problem or challenges facing him which calls for the decision making. In getting any work or job done, it is best to start from the beginning. In this extremely important step, a good context of the problem must be grasped. This means that he has to get a good understanding of the problem to be solved.
Next, the manager gathers data, lists and enumerates the alternatives before him. He collects all relevant facts and figures, from which he identifies all the various alternatives of choice. This is needed to facilitate and support the decision making process. Information collection can be done through research, brainstorming or experimentation. It is important during the information gathering phase to also consult “people who know” and “people who matter”.
Finally, after weighing all the alternatives, he chooses and implements the best alternative. In this step, he ponders over the issues peacefully without distractions, and then decides on the best choice or best courses of action.
In conclusion, managerial decision making may just involve a “Yes” or “No” decision. In which case, the solution is simple. But in cases where the issues are of serious nature, even making a “Yes” or “No” decision may involve all the different steps enumerated above.

The Real Reason Employees Work:
36 Proven Ways To Motivate

If you still think money is the #1 motivator ... your wrong! Money is important, but if someone doesn't like their job or the way they are treated, I don't care how much you pay them, they still won't like it. In fact, in numerous surveys the #1 motivating factor to get employees to perform at their best focuses on appreciation and recognition.
While money is important to employees, what tends to motivate them to perform at high levels is the thoughtful, personal kind of recognition that signifies true appreciation for a job well done.

The best way to provide recognition and appreciation is through the use of rewards. To make our rewards work, we must first follow certain basic guidelines:

1. Design rewards based on the individual's personal preferences. For example to reward a workaholic with a day off could be seen by the employee as, "What did I do wrong?" instead of a show of appreciation as it was meant to be. To really understand what is important to each employee it's essential to get to know each employee well and find out what they think are important rewards.

2. Reward for achievement - Rewards should be based on what was actually done. For example, if someone has given you an idea that has saved you money, that person should get a bigger reward versus someone who just did you a small favor.
3.Time your rewards. Rewards and recognition should be given as soon as possible after the desired behavior. Reward and recognition that come long after the achievement do little to motivate the employee.

To help you provide the recognition, appreciation and rewards that truly motivate, here are thirty-six inexpensive but effective ideas that you can use immediately:

•Say thank you. This is so easy, but often overlooked.
•A pat on the back.
•A smile.
•Public recognition in front of peers.
•Manage by wandering around (MBWA). Get out from behind your desk and see what your employees are doing. It shows you care and are interested in what they do.
•A letter of praise from a customer or vendor shared directly with the employee who delivered the service.
•Develop a wall of fame. A letter from a customer or vendor praising an employee, posted on the company bulletin board.
•Listening to an employee who has an idea for improving efficiency or effectiveness and then acting affirmatively on that suggestion.
•Ask your employee what non-monetary rewards they would like to have and, if possible provide them.
•Provide training to employees. Offer them opportunities to improve themselves. For example, one client of mine had me train all their employees in success skills. This not only helped the company, but it was seen by the employees that management really cared about them.
•Bring in coffee, donuts and snacks on a regular basis and also do it when it is not expected.
•Provide free lunches to employees when you seen them doing something above and beyond.
•Walk your talk. Lead by example: Do what you say you're going to do and keep all your promises.
•Involve employees in decisions that directly affect them. People have a need to belong. Make them feel like they are an important part of your business.
•Praise them. Each day your goal should be to catch employees doing something right so you can praise them. This makes them feel valuable and valued.
•Listen to your employees. There really is a reason that you have two ears and one mouth. Listening tells you what employees need; it keeps you from making mistakes with them; it wins their respect; it enables you to negotiate successfully with them; it raises their self-esteem; it minimizes their frustration and it communicates that you care.
•Let your employees know they are VIPs too! Arrange discounts with local theaters, restaurants, sports events or other things important to them. This will not only motivate them, but they will tell everyone what a great place they work for.
•Give credit where credit is due. One of the best ways to achieve results is to give credit to the appropriate employees.
•Go out of your way to help employees. A little extra effort, some personal inconvenience, goes a long way with subordinates in confirming the feeling that what they are doing is important to you --- and that they are too.
•Have family day. Encourage employees to bring in families to the see the office or plant one afternoon. Follow up with a picnic. What you spend in half a day's down-time will be rewarded many times over by family good will, and of course, word of mouth.
•When paychecks go out, write a note on the envelope recognizing an employee's accomplishment(s).
•Encourage employees to praise good work of their fellow employees.
•Conduct an out-to-dinner program for employees. Award dinners for two for doing something special like coming in on a day off or working through a break. You could also provide dinners to employees who get praised by customers.
•Go to lunch with each one of your employees on a quarterly basis. Ask the question, "What do we need to do to keep you with us?"
•Remember birthdays ... birthday card, cake or gift.
•Invite employees to your home for a special event and recognize them in front of their spouses and co-workers.
•Give employees rewards for customers they bring in.
•Offer rewards for great ideas. If it saves money or brings in business, give the employee a percentage of the savings or profit.
•Be sympathetic to personal problems.
•Have regular meetings to let employees know what is going on in the company. It's important that everyone feels they belong.
•Order a pizza or a huge submarine sandwich for a communal lunch.
•Send $10, $25 or more to a spouse with a thank-you note for his or her support during the employee's overtime.
•Buy gift certificates.
•Pay an employees rent for a month.
•Pay for the tutoring of an employee's child.
•Give employees who recruit new workers a cash bonus.

These are but a few of the strategies you can use. Remember, everyone is different and what motivates one person may not motivate another. In fact, giving the same reward to every member of the company - not only does not inspire employees to excel, but it may actually damage performance as top achievers see no acknowledgment of the exceptional job they have done.

When your stress levels are off the charts, you need to learn how to stop worrying so much. Some things are just beyond our control.

If you have kids, then you know that you eventually have to let them stand on their own. If you’ve got a big project on your hands, then you must know that you’re already doing all you can to make it successful.

Step 1: Think Positive Thoughts.

Perhaps you’ve been trained to think of the worst-case scenario, which is why you always seem to be on the verge of a panic attack. Or perhaps you’re just a natural-born worrywart.

Whatever the reason for your excessive tension or anxiety, it’s time for a change. And one way you can learn how to stop worrying so much is to think positive thoughts.

Sure, life isn’t all candies and rainbows, but it’s not a tragedy either. Life is what you make it. If you fuel yourself with positivity, then your worries will eventually melt away.

Step 2: Do Breathing Exercises.

Breathing exercises help you calm down. When you’re angry, you usually count from 1 to 10 until the rage subsides. When you’re worried, I advise you to do the same thing.

You can take deep and slow breaths while counting, focusing on your breathing instead of what’s going on around you.

Step 3: Build Confidence And Trust.

If you want to know how to stop worrying so much, take this advice: trust in yourself and in other people. This alone can lift the burden off your shoulders.

If you’re in charge of a project in your company, trust in your capacity to handle anything that comes your way. Worrying will only take your mind off what is really important.

If your kids are the issue, trust that you have at least raised them well enough to know what’s right and wrong. Worrying too much would only suffocate them, and could cause you to make decisions you might regret later on.

It’s important for everyone to learn how to stop worrying so much. The more you worry, the more mistakes you make.

Think of the highly successful people you admire. They didn’t become successful because they worried about everything every time. They became successful because they put all their efforts into achieving their dreams.

Don’t waste your energy on worrying. Spend it on something more productive.

How To Stop Worrying So Much In 3 Easy Steps

Can you remember what it's like to meet somebody for the first time, and despite being strangers, you seem to get a strong feeling of connection when you meet this person? Like you get this relaxed feeling of openness and willingness to let your guard down with this person and share who you really are? It's rare, but when it happens, you usually suspect it's something about the other person.

How would you like to be able to create that feeling in others within only a few minutes of meeting them? Maybe a client you may be interested in selling something to , or a person you were interested in getting to know a little bit better, or merely a stranger whom you wanted to share an open and genuine conversation with.

The reason some people seem so natural and easy to talk to, an some people just send out the wrong reasons is based on the idea of similarity. We humans have evolved to feel comfortable with something that we know. We like the familiar, and we feel nervous and anxious in unfamiliar territory. Maybe it helped us get back home to our caves in prehistoric times after a long days hunt, who knows. But things that are familiar are comfortable. Things that are strange and different, not so much.

What is the best way to create that feeling of safety and comfort in the people you speak with? How you get them to feel a sense of familiarity after only having spoken with you for just a few minutes? Easy. In NLP and Covert Hypnosis circles, this is widely referred to as "Rapport," and is very powerful. Creating rapport is much, much easier than you think.

The quickest way to create that feeling of connection is to simply match the body language of others. Sit how they are sitting, stand how they are standing. You can see this in action by going to a restaurant or cafe where people are sitting and chatting. The people that have matched body language are in rapport, while those with mismatched body language are not. This is one of the reasons some people with strong "intuition," usually females, can walk into a room and quickly see what's what.

Once you've matched the body language of the person you are speaking with, you can match their rate of speech. If they speak fast, you speak fast. If they speak slow, you speak slow. They will notice on an unconscious level that you are very similar to them, and will start to feel that feeling of comfort and openness. Can you imagine how you can use this for some kind of benefit in your future?

How To Make Anybody Feel At Ease And Relaxed Within Minutes Of Meeting You And Feel As If You Are Th

Establishing an online brand is important for anyone marketing on the internet since in doing so they will gain a competitive advantage. Building brands however goes beyond just increasing your exposure especially if you intend to leverage the brand you created to help increase your marketing effectiveness. There are a few necessary elements that will need to be successfully incorporated into the image you are creating if you expect people to spend money with you or your business.

Here are the 3 essential elements every brand needs in order to be a viable asset for anyone marketing on the internet.

Reliability

When building brands it is absolutely mandatory that the image or identity you are developing is perceived as reliable. Whatever it is your product, service or business is representing it needs to be able to perform or deliver in the manner as it is being presented. Failure to do so will simply make your branding efforts useless and tarnish your reputation as well!

Recognition

You want your image or brand to be easily recognizable by others therefore the use of a slogan, logo or some other type of imagery is recommended. When marketing on the internet you will have access to a global audience but your competition will also be global in scope. Having an easily recognizable way of capturing peoples attention helps you stand out from the 'crowd' thereby increasing your marketing effectiveness. This is a very large part of what building brands is all about!

Quality

Without quality you got nothing to offer people so it all starts will a something worth the attention and interest of others. Whatever it is you are representing it must be of respectable quality otherwise it is not worth standing behind! In fact associating with inferior products or services can damage your reputation and destroy your marketing effectiveness so carefully select what it is you chose to promote!

Building credibility online is crucial for your success and this takes plenty of time and effort. On the other hand repairing a damaged reputation, which can occur literally overnight, will take even longer!

Establishing an online brand is a great way to gain a competitive edge when marketing on the internet. When building brands for this purpose however certain elements, as discussed above, are essential if the new image is to have a positive impact on your marketing effectiveness. Increasing your exposure when working online is always an important first step but trust and reliability must also exist for this strategy to be the most effective.

3 Key Elements Of An Online Brand

You know that the word failure is talked about way more than the word success. We have a tendency to talk about the times “we almost made it”, more than the times when we did make it.

What is success after all? It’s a goal that we have deep inside and we work hard at lining everything up so that we have the best chance to succeed at that goal. Successes in life don’t come easy. If it did everyone would be doing it.

Jim Kelly, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills from 1986-1996, led his team into four consecutive Superbowl’s, and lost every one of them. Despite his successful career as the Bills QB, he will always be remembered for his failure to win a Superbowl championship.

As a network marketer, the more I get people to say yes to my product and business proposal, the more success I enjoy and the more money I earn. So getting to yes, you must first go through no. That will determine the measure of my success.

Most people think of success and failure as a choice. They will concentrate all their energies at success while doing everything within their power to avoid failure. This is a sure order for an average performance.

The right choice should always be success and failure. The facts remain that all winners, will fail far more often than losers. By dramatically increasing my failure rate, I put myself on the course of the greatest success formula in the world. Looking and seeking out the No’s.

A great picture of this is a man at a baseball game selling peanuts. Most people love peanuts and especially at the ball game. But who will buy this man’s peanuts? He must put on his gear and walk through the stands yelling, “peanuts”! Now most people won’t say no to him, but by their lack of attention to him, they are saying, “no, we don’t want any peanuts”. But there will be those who will look directly at him, raise their hand and show with their fingers, how many bags they want.

How many no’s did he have to go through before he got to yes? Quite a few, but by the time that game is over, he will have sold a lot of peanuts.

Yes is the destination. No is how you get there

Failure comes with a lot of emotion. It is something that we will try to avoid with every fiber of our being. Failure can just be downright devastating.

Success on the other hand, can be a very elusive dream that only happens when all the stars are lined up at the very precise time, with almost a mystical and magical concept for the select few.

Here comes the catch – to achieve success….YOU…MUST…FAIL!

Failure is not aiming at a target and missing. Failure is an undeniable sign of progress toward a goal. Are you actively pursuing your goal or dream? Then you are a success in progress. Failure is never final, or a permanent condition, until you quit!

Get beyond the ability to tolerate NO, and learn how to embrace it. By increasing your willingness to fail, you will increase your ability to succeed.

What would have happened if the peanut man decided to quit after the first two people said no? He would have been labeled a failure and made no money that day.

Donald Trump has failed at business and filed bankruptcy a number of times. Thomas Edison tried a thousand times before his incandescent light bulb worked. Winners never quit and quitters never win. Which one are you?

Success and Failure – Getting To Yes – You Must First Go Through No

There is no denying that the advent of social media has greatly changed the way companies do business. With online social networking, business blogging and other various aspects of social media, businesses have a new way to connect with customers, promote their brand and grow their company.

It seems these changes in marketing are coming faster than many can keep up with. It is times like these, when we look to the experts for little nuggets of inspiration. In a recent webinar entitled The Future of Marketing Microconference, 60 experts each had one minute to present their fact, opinion, or insight on what they think will bring marketing success both now, and in the near future.

Here are three key elements that, according to the experts, will have the most impact and the most success on social media marketing.

Content:

If you're involved in the realm of social media marketing, I'm sure you've heard the phrase "Content is King." You may have even had it beaten into your head. You're probably sick of hearing it. However, what exactly is good content, and how will it help promote your company?

There is a lot of content out there on the Web. Some of it is quite valuable, but a lot of it is garbage. Unfortunately, you are competing with all of it. How will you stand out and be heard above the noise?

Writing about how great your company is or boasting about your accolades will not engage people and win over new customers. By creating helpful content that engages readers, provides valuable information, or tells a story they can relate to, you will rise above the noise.

Good content is also content that people will want to share with others. If people share your content, either by sending their friends or colleagues a link to your blog, retweeting your tweets, or telling people about your site, they are promoting for you. Essentially, this is free advertising.

Aside from providing helpful and interesting information, you want to add some personality to your content. Stop being faceless and start being human.

Marketing Strategies:

As mentioned above, if people want to share your content with others, they are advertising for you. Using your customers as a marketing channel is a good way to promote your brand. It might sound a bit devious, but it actually isn't. If people like your product, content, or way you do business, they will want to tell people about it. How many times have you dined at a great new restaurant, and immediately recommended it to friends? You probably don't see it as marketing for the company; you see it as introducing your friends to a great place to eat.

Location-based social media like Foursquare and review sites like Yelp are great ways to market via your customers. If your customers like your product or service they will talk about it on these sites, giving you free promotion. However, the downside is they can spread negative reviews as well. The best way to handle this is to respond to these negative reviews by apologizing. Be sincere and professional - if you attack them you'll just look worse in their eyes and the eyes of others.

Customer Relations:

Your customers are the heart of your business. Without them, your business would not exist. So how you treat your customers and interact with them is of utmost importance. Gone are the days of advertising at your customers. Now are they days of interacting with them. If there is one common thread that was repeated throughout the webinar, it was that customer relationships are a vital part of social media marketing.

Online social networking gives companies a great way to connect with their customers. Listen to what they have to say and respond in a professional, yet still human, manner. What are the unmet needs of your customers? What do they love about your product or service, and what do they want to see changed?

Building trust is important. However, you can do this by being upfront and honest with your customers, do what you promise, and respond to them in a timely manner. Show that you are human, and not just a brand. And most importantly, treat your customers how you would want to be treated.

The Future of Social Media Marketing – Tips From the Experts

Any small business owner knows making money isn't what it was 5 or 10 years ago; the economy is putting a hurting on entrepreneurs. After 2000 hit, new business owners had it easy. There was a glut of money and no real need to market in order to run a successful business. While the ante has been upped, you can still rake in the money with good marketing. A successful overall strategy is unique to each specific business, but here are 5 small business market strategies to get your wheels turning:

1. Email Marketing

While I discourage the tendency for business owners to think all the answers are online, email marketing is one of those small business marketing strategies on the web that everyone should be using. Marketing in these modern times, an age where people have learned to drown out commercial information overload, should focus on building a relationship with customers and prospects.

Email marketing is one of the most powerful ways to do this. Capture the emails of your clients and prospects so you can build a customer database. Then, launch an email campaign, build up brand recognition, and periodically remind people about what you offer.

There are plenty of ways to get emails using customer service forms, website email captures, promotions, receipts, customer appreciation cards, and many other tricks.

2. Press Releases

I like press releases, and you can do these offline or online. Every time your business does something newsworthy, you should issue a press release. Hire a good freelance writer to put them together for you, and if you have a good enough spin on a story, it even has the opportunity to make it into the mass media outlets, giving you some real publicity.

That said, the definition of a press release is changing, and they are a much more common tool now, so don't think you have to make history in order to release one. You can and should release an online press release every time anything happens in your business.

And I really mean anything. While it won't necessarily make it into the news, it will give your business more exposure across the web when people research your name, and besides, you never know what someone else might see as news.

3. The Dunning Mailer

The Dunning Mailer is a revolutionary direct mail technique that was made popular by a marketing genius named Dan Kennedy. Modeled after a formula debt collectors use to get money (from people who don't have money, Kennedy points out), it is a succession of mailings to the same list.

The trick is to create a sense of urgency that grows in intensity with each successive mailing. This is one of those small business marketing strategies that will exponentially increase your profits if you know how to do it right.

4. Become an Expert

If you work in a service industry, or often even if you don't, credibility is paramount, and in fact this might be one of the most important areas to focus your time and energy. There are plenty of ways to build credibility.

Write articles and circulate them on the web. Write a book and publish it on Amazon. Press releases, as I mentioned above. Writing into your local newspaper. Giving local seminars. Joining related associations.

I could write a book on this single topic alone.

5. Joint Ventures

This is one of the most highly disregarded and underestimated small business marketing strategies I can think of, as most people think it only applies to online businesses and big corporations. Joint ventures are a fantastic way to get new clients.

A marketing consultant, for instance, would make JV deals with centers of influence like accountants and lawyers, people who have a lot of exposure to business owners. A plumber might form a JV partnership with a carpenter—both benefit by pitching each other's services to customers, bringing in new leads, and possibly even collecting commissions.

Small Business Marketing Strategies: 5 Ways to Step Up Your Game in this Recession

Internet brand development is a relatively straight forward and logical process. It starts with creating and increasing an online awareness of you or what it is you represent. In most cases, the purpose for this is to help you stand apart from your competitors thereby increase your marketing effectiveness.

Here are the 3 simple steps that you will want and need to take to effectively establish your chosen online brand.

Exposure
The very first step you need to take to build an online brand is to get out in front of people. The use of video and/or content is typically how most increase their exposure on the internet. Social sites, blogs, forums or other platforms where your target audience may gather are great ways to expand your exposure. In addition the viral capabilities these locations offer are hard to beat and something you can use to your advantage.

Repetition
Creating an online awareness of the brand you are developing takes a repeated, consistent and sustained effort in order to be effective. Remember, branding is making a 'lasting' impression and this can not be done overnight. Your exposure needs to be everywhere and all the time for the impression you are trying to make to have a lasting effect and repetition is the key!

Build Trust

This is where you 'shape or mold' the type of impression you are making and of course you want it to be a favorable one. Whatever type of content you are using to build your online brand you always want it to be useful to the people it targets. The more you circulate the more people will begin to associate you or your business with the content itself. After a while you will then begin to be perceived as an authority and also a reliable source for this type information. As your association and reputation grow in this way, so too will your marketing effectiveness since folks will now tend to recognize and trust you more.

Brand development on the internet is recommended for any person or business interested in gaining a competitive edge. By increasing the online awareness of what it is you are representing, it serves to help boost your marketing effectiveness since you have now captured the attention of others. The 3 key components of effectively establishing your online brand are discussed above and demonstrate the simplicity of the process itself. The only investment, in most cases, on your own behalf will be the time and effort needed, along with the proper diligence, to establish your online brand. Your reward will be a significant boost in your marketing effectiveness and of course your bottom line as well!

Effective Online Brand Development – 3 Key Components

A successful marketing strategy is judged by how effectively it can be used. Many people know that a successful marketing strategy puts a lot of different factors into consideration and uses these factors as a collective.

There are, however, five main keys to developing successful marketing strategies. Every successful entrepreneur will tell you that these five always play a part in the development of a successful marketing strategy:

1) Strengths - A successful marketing strategy always considers the various strengths that a company has. These strengths should be present within the company and the company should be able to use it in order to achieve the desired goal. It is clear that every company has strengths which it could use to gain advantages over the competition. These strengths could range from having more resources to having more experience. The strategy must utilize the strengths to the maximum. Every effort expended should be directed towards the achievement of the goal.

2) Weaknesses - Just as every company has strengths, every company also has its weaknesses. A successful marketing strategy needs to take these weaknesses into account and help people overcome them. A successful marketing strategy should be realistic regarding its weaknesses in order to truly be effective.

Successful marketing strategies have often turned potential weaknesses into strengths. Anything is possible with the right manipulation of a company's strength. By taking account of the potential weaknesses, a company will be able to find ways of coping for those weaknesses. They could actually remedy those weaknesses and make sure that they will not be the downfall of the company.

3) Opportunities - Successful marketing strategies have always taken advantage of every available opportunity for advancement. By taking account of existing opportunities, a company will be looking at the various stepping stones that it can use in order to achieve success. Various opportunities are always available in a market.
However, these opportunities are often shrouded and need a keen eye and a good sense to take advantage of them. In taking advantage of opportunities, however, the company must not lose sight of the main goal through which it can measure success.

4) Threats - Since the market contains opportunities for the company, it should also be mentioned that it does contain threats. People should be aware of any potential even that could bring a company to its knees.

Successful marketing strategies have always included methods of riding out these threats and adapting to them in such a way that they will endure them. The most successful marketing strategies, in fact, have actually been able to turn these threats into opportunities. Take BMW for example: when it was faced with the threat of being forbidden to manufacture airplanes, it took to manufacturing cars. That's a great way of turning a threat into an opportunity.

5) Implementation - A marketing strategy needs to be implemented in order to be successful. The implementation is the final test of how successful a marketing strategy actually is. It could be clever, it could be simple, it could be cunning, and it could be obvious. The successful marketing strategy is always implemented. Without this final test, the marketing strategy is just a marketing strategy. Success is determined by the use, not by the design.

These are the five keys to a successful marketing strategy. Mark them well, for they might help you to achieve success someday.

Ask any child; "what do you want to be when you grow up?", and you will get an array of different answers. There are always the standard answers like, I want to be a fireman, policeman, doctor, or maybe even president. My grand-daughter wants to be a model when she grows up, and I think she will. She loves the camera and is a very beautiful girl. Of course, I'm a little biased in my opinion, but when you look into their eyes, you see this wonder and excitement when they talk of living their dreams. Their eyes are wide as saucers and they talk about them as if there is no doubt in their mind, they are going to happen.

What happens to all those dreams? What happened to your dream? What happened to my dream? Are you living your dreams? Did you have a dream?

I think as we grow older, our dreams may change. Circumstances and maturity set in and alter or change the way we look at life and our circumstances. The wide eyed child has matured into an adult and his dreams have also matured with him.

I always wanted to be a baseball player. I loved sports and played hockey as well, but life's circumstances changed all that and living my dream as a professional athlete disappeared. As I talked with people that have known me awhile and I reveal to them what my childhood dream always was, they kind of look at me a little funny, and say...really? They have that, "I don't believe you", look on their face. Have you ever had that happen to you?

People laugh at your dreams. I don't have to tell you that. If you are a dreamer, and entrepreneurs are dreamers or visionaries, you will have more than one dream and you will have more than one occasion where you receive the looks and laughter at your dreams and visions.

There are tons of dreamers, visionaries, entrepreneurs that come to mind, but I would like to bring just a couple to your attention.

1.Leonardo da Vinci

This man was born on April 15, 1452. He was a true dreamer. His drawings included detailed drawings of flight machines. Can you imagine him trying to talk to his friends about putting together a contraption that would take a person into the air? Talk about getting some looks and giggles, and think he might have gotten his share.

2. Thomas Edison

Besides giving us light through the incandescent light bulb, Thomas Edison also gave us the phonograph and accumulated 1093 U.S patents. He is credited with numerous inventions that contributed to mass communications and, in particular telecommunications. This guy was always thinking and dreaming of what could be.

3. Charles Babbage

Where would we be without computers today? I remember when I was in high school, computers were in their infancy, and the dream that someday a machine would have such abilities as the computer does today was a very laughable idea. Well, thanks to Charles Babbage, the dream is alive today.

He was an English mathematician, philosopher, inventor, and mechanical engineer who originated the concept of a programmable computer. Babbage is credited with inventing the first mechanical computer that eventually led to more complex designs.

What do all these men have in common. They dared to dream. They took the looks, the laughs and the finger pointing, and it didn't deter them from the visions they had. They weren't thrown off track by them.

Zig Ziglar says that he has been laughed at and made fun of and been told that he will never make it, all of his life. To continue and persevere under those circumstances is definitely a man on a mission. He did not let that deter him from fulfilling his dreams, and it shouldn't with you or me either.

Every one of these dreamers and visionaries had failures, bumps in the road, and people in the way yelling their sarcasm and negative slurs. That should only make you the more determined to win. Success has to go through some failure doors first.

When I played sports and certain people from the opposing team would do their intimidating talking on the field, or I would hear the jeers and yelling from the people in the stands, that just made me all the more determined to do my best and gain the victory. Failure is not final.

What are your dreams? Want to open and run a successful business? Want to open a school for inner city kids? What is the vision you have? I know you can see it as if it is already alive and happening. If this is you, I would like to tell you to never, ever stop dreaming, and don't listen to people come up to you and say, "that will never happen," "you can't do that". You can't stop them from talking at you, but you don't have to listen to them.

You are different. Only 3% of the world's population are dreamers and visionaries. The other 97% live in the box. Don't let the boxers yell their negative talk at you. Don't let them knock you off the road you are traveling. Stay the course, hold the line, and always continue moving forward toward the goals you have and live now the future that you envision. Never stop living your dreams.

"You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win. " Zig Ziglar

Financial Careers - Tips on Effectively Exploring the Financial Industry

Most people fail after starting a home based business because there are some common pitfalls inherent in a lot of home based business opportunities. One should avoid the following fatal flaws when choosing a home based business.

If you are evaluating a business opportunity which requires you to sign up family or friends as customers, do not walk but run for the nearest exit. This is the quickest way to alienate both your family and your friends.

Never join a business which requires you to attend hotel meetings. One of the most common reasons for starting a home business is financial freedom and most do so while still working another job. If your new opportunity requires you to travel to hotel meetings after work each day then you will ultimately exhaust yourself. Your goal is more time to enjoy your life, not less.

Whatever you do, do not join a business which requires you to purchase large quantities of their product. If the business mandates a nominal purchase of their product each month that is fine. But if you are contemplating adding onto your garage to store all that product, this is not the business for you.

One of the most important elements of the business is the compensation plan. Never settle for a compensation plan that is less than adequate. If you have to work until you are 102 years old, this is not the path for you. Believe me, there are business opportunities out there with really good compensation plans. You deserve to be paid and you deserve to be paid well.

If you are a genius and have studied the company’s program for months and still cannot understand the program, chances are it is too complicated. After all, you’re going to need to be able to explain the business to potential customers and/or salespeople. If you can’t, hasta la vista, baby. I have often found that the simplest concepts work the best.

Avoid those opportunities whose marketing requirements are unrealistic. Most home business opportunities floating around on the internet today require you to recruit a ton of other people just like you who either need or want to make a lot of money. Often you must simply recruit an unreachable number of people in order to succeed. This takes undue amounts of both time and selling skill. You don’t have to possess either with the right business model.

The solution is to choose a home based business which does not have any of the hardship requirements listed above. The best businesses are simple, easy to understand, inexpensive, and not overly burdensome in their marketing requirements. Leveraging the power of the internet to do your marketing for you will solve a lot of your problems immediately and result in greater income. And, speaking of greater income, the best of the best home based businesses will have a lucrative compensation plan. If you combine a great compensation plan with proven internet marketing techniques, then I’ll see you at the bank!

Make Money Fast-Choose the Right Home Based Business

Ok. So you’ve decided to start your own business. Congratulations! But how do you go about advertising your new business? You’ve got to generate some leads and some sales, right?

In the past you could choose to cold call or you could go door to door trying to sell your product or service. Of course, in neither of these methods did you pre-qualify a lead and you most certainly had to handle a truckload of rejection. Maybe you could hire advertising experts to create a flashy but expensive advertising campaign. This could prove to be extremely costly yet offer no guarantee of results.

Fortunately, you no longer have to do this. With the evolution of the internet economies of scale have been created with respect to advertising costs which enable the little guy to compete with the corporate giants. No longer do you have to cold call or pound the pavement or borrow big bucks from Aunt Martha to fund your advertising budget. With internet advertising not only do you make money faster but you cut your expenses tremendously. Hey, it’s not how much you make, it’s how much you keep that counts.

It is imperative to create your own website. Nowadays it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to do so. You can create a high quality site with little expense. Even better is the savvy business owner who joins a business which already has its own website. However, this deserves a cautionary not. I would recommend setting up your own personal lead capture page even if you join a business which has its own website. In this way you can capture and store the information about your potential customers versus giving that information away to the company.

There is a vast array of advertising methods available online. Good news: a lot of these are absolutely free. Yeah, you heard me right. I would recommend utilizing some sites which allow you to post free ads with, of course, a link back to your website or lead capture page. Another tried and true method is posting banner ads. These are larger and in general I don’t use them that often. Nevertheless, there are successful marketers who utilize banner ads.

It is always a good idea to give away free content to entice visitors to your site. The content must be interesting and useful to the reader. There are several ways to do this. Giving away free e-books that are short, simple and easy to understand yet provide valuable content is a great way to attract more customers to your site. Who doesn’t like getting something useful and interesting for free? Another method which may work equally well is writing periodic free e-newsletters. Submitting free newsletters, again with a link to your website or lead capture page, should bring more traffic to your site. And more traffic means more sales.

Most business owners are so focused on marketing their own product or service they often miss one of the best and most profitable strategies on the internet today. I’m talking about affiliate marketing. Simply put, you can sign up as an affiliate on other people’s sites and agree to refer their product or service to your customer list. You will receive affiliate commissions when your customers buy from the other vendors. There are some visitors to your site who may never buy from you. Why not make money from them anyway. And you can cross-sell affiliate products to those folks who are your good customers and make even more money from them.

No longer do you have to sell your house or your car just to fund the advertising budget for your new business. No longer do you have to spend hours on sales calls to people who are not even pre-qualified. The internet, with its global reach, can do your marketing for you. Even if you join a business with its own website, I would recommend creating your own lead capture page unless your business provides you with your own contact and autoresponder service. And whether you post banner ads or write free ads online you are not spending money to advertise. Don’t be shy about giving away quality content for free either. We’ve already discussed writing e-books or periodic e-newsletters. Remember these drive people to your site. And don’t forget about the hidden secret: affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing can bring in cash flow during the start-up phase of your business as well as ramp up profits in the mature phase. So what are you waiting for? Kick start your profits with the right internet marketing and you will have a winner!

They are actually putting $50 in your getinfree account almost instantly after you join them and when you refer anyone you will be credited with another $50 and it does not stop there, if your referrer refers anyone, you will earn from them as well, it’s a chain reaction. Unbelievable! that’s what I though, I thought this could be another scam on the block, but decided to try it out myself as it was a free program and the only thing I would invest in was my time and guess what I found, I was credited with $50 instantly and another $50 came on my account when I completed my profile in getinfree member’s area. The question now is how can I withdraw the money that I had earned from it? The answer to that question is that they have a tie up with a world class forex partner and this is how you can spend your account credits. Open a currency trading account with our world-class Forex broker partner and use your credits to make some real money.
Convert up to $10,000 USD credits into real funds in your currency trading account simply by matching the amount.
For example, say you want to convert $1,000 USD worth of credits.
Just match that credit amount by loading $1,000 USD into your trading account and you’ll get a total of $2,000 USD to trade with.
Reverse auctions
Starting 1st November, you’ll be able to use your credits in exciting reverse auctions.

Since you only have one life to live, you might as well make the most of it and have the best life there is. Having great friends around is part of the joy in living. And have you ever dreamed of having lots and lots of friends around you in order to have a better life? It is true what they say that no matter how successful you may be, life would seem dull, boring and meaningless without true friends in our lives.

Now, the million dollar question is, how can you make more and more pals than you can handle? Of course, there are just so many ways and ideas to do it. And all of them possibly have some value or merit in them. However, this is not always that easy but if a better life and having more great friends were easy and simple, then you will already have them.

Actually, when you truly get down to it, all you really need is the capacity to heed and follow the tip or advice of Dan Reiland who was once quoted of saying, ‘How could you acquire charisma? So be more concerned in making other people feel good about themselves than you are at making them feel good about yourself.’ In short, you should make it your top priority to help other people have a better life if you also want to live a better life yourself by having more friends.

Let me share with you a few ways that you could be more concerned about other people. 1. For a better life, serve your way to more friends. If ever you hear of a person or a loved one that needs help or aid in something, try and exert effort to be the first one to lend a hand.

Also, be generous to people with your efforts, time, skills, advices or even with your smiles and in no time, you would have people swarming around your circle, eager and wanting you to be their friend. 2. Buy your way to have more engaging friends. No, I do not literally mean to buy your friends, but spending just a little of your money could go a long way in making a lot of pals.

You do not have to break the bank or go broke in doing this, but it is quite amazing what a small bit of pocket change could do to help encourage and inspire other people. For example, one of the best and effective ways in making a loved one feel good about themselves is to send them a greeting card.

Well, this seems to be quite easier for a woman than a man, but guys could always find ways and means to do this as well. Buying a person a cup of coffee is a best example for men. 3. Listen your way to have more friends. Have you ever been in a conversation with a person and all you could think about while they are speaking is what you are going to say next? This is actually one of the ways to stop making more fruitful friendships.

Rather than thinking of what to say, simply listen. The simple act of listening can do wonders for your friendships.

How To Gain More Friends For A Better Life

We tend to think of Karma as some kind of luck. You've either got it bad, or you've got it good. If you've got it good, the gods are smiling on you. If you've got it bad, you're at least a little bit cursed, and have to somehow pay or make up for the months or years or lifetimes of having 'blown it'. However unknown your infractions may be to you now.

I'd like to propose that Karma is not about what Happens to you. But that Karma is about how you Handle it. Karma is a state of mind. Therein lies our power to 'create our own reality', and meet what life hands us in a powerful stance of co-creation. By our actions and reactions, thoughts and feelings. It's easy to imagine oneself a victim when things aren't going the way we'd wish. "Bad karma!" we might mutter. Another versions of, "Bummer, man!" But, as they say, 'shit happens'. To all of us! And I believe karma is about how we perspective and meet and handle said 'shit'. If something happens that I don't like, I can label it (or me) bad, and bring the accompanying complaint and victimization to it. If something happens that I do like, I can think I've got it good.

But perhaps I can begin to step out of my thoughts about good and bad, right and wrong, and look at the potential learning in the situation. And imagine myself meeting that perceptually less-than-ideal human experience with an attitude of curiosity, openness and perhaps even gratitude as to what it's here to teach. Every moment is a potential turning point. What happens guides and shapes us. We cannot see the steps ahead. The ego's tendency--brilliantly named the 'Pain Body' by Eckhart Tolle--is to see what it doesn't want as wrong, and to inflict more suffering on itself. We're all very good at that: suffering over our suffering. Perhaps Karma is about alleviating our own suffering when 'shit happens'. And finding the potential goodness. Looking for the lesson. Putting it in perspective.

Opening our arms to the universe and saying, "I don't know why this is occurring, but okay, thank you." I remember, many years ago now, thinking I was going to be moving into a certain place. I had made a special trip to see it again, and to meet with the property manager to sign the papers. When I arrived, he flippantly told me the place wasn’t going to be ready on time for me to move in. No big deal to him . . . But I had movers coming. I had someone moving into the place I was vacating. I thought he and I had a deal. I thought I had a plan. I was basically being blown off, and found myself desperate, in a swirl of stress and angst and upset. I couldn't see myself as anything other than a victim. Now, with nowhere now to go . . . Bad karma, some would say. But that was just a moment in time. Fraught. But a moment, nonetheless.

What I didn't know, and couldn’t see, was that something even better was waiting for me. And that that 'glitch', that moment of apparent bad karma, was guiding me toward the life and home I'm in now. A place of goodness and beauty I couldn't have imagined. Had that other place come through, every single detail in my life would be different today. The people I know. The clients I see. Everything. In Chinese, the symbol for 'crisis' is made up of two other symbols: "danger" and "opportunity."

Under stress, it's hard to see the opportunity in the crisis. To trust that there is an unfoldment that wants something even better than the ego can conceive of in the moment. That to me is about Karma. About meeting life from a place of openness, curiosity and neutrality, so that when things don't go the way we think we want them to, we can be receptive, and create Good Karma for ourselves by how we are meeting life, and treating ourselves and others in the process. This is an act of faith, surrender. Trusting in the unfoldment of our lives, however vague and disappointing that may seem at the time. Opening our arms to life and saying, "I don't know why this is occurring, but okay, thank you." Creating our own good Karma, by trusting the flow of our own evolution, and letting go, and going with it.
